The centre brings together Consultant Physicians and Specialists in Neuro-otology, the discipline concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and ear disorders, resulting in complex hearing and balance disorders.
Common conditions seen at LHABC include tinnitus, sudden hearing loss, autoimmune hearing and balance disorders, noise induced hearing loss, auditory processing disorders and other dysacuses such as misophonia, Meniere’s disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis and migrainous vertigo and neurological disorders with imbalance.
Private patients and patients requiring medico-legal opinions are seen at the centre. All the consultants work in the NHS, in tertiary centres of excellence, and in addition to broad experience in neuro-otology and audio-vestibular medicine, have subspecialty expertise e.g. in migraine, auditory processing, autoimmune inner ear disease, sudden hearing loss and balance disorders. They all engage in teaching and research with access to continuing medical developments. LHABC benefits from having consultant physicians, with broad training in internal medicine and otology, test facilities and senior specialised healthcare professionals in all relevant management disciplines on site.
